The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) granted food inspection equipment worth around $300,000 to the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA). The equipment was distributed over six agricultural and veterinary quarantine centers in the country.
The initiative is funded by the Italian Cooperation Bureau of the Italian Embassy in Beirut.
The objective of the initiative is to support the inspection and quality control capacities of the MOA. The equipment includes tools for extracting food samples, vehicles, a refrigerated room, and other devices used in food inspection.
The endeavor is part of FAO’s project ‘Strengthening Production and Marketing of Lebanese Agricultural Products’.
