The British Ambassador, Tom Fletcher said that his country will implement a three-part action plan to support stability in Lebanon within regional unrest.
According to Fletcher, “the plan will include protecting Lebanon's financial system from the possible impact of international sanctions against Syria.”
The second part of the plan involves increasing British training to the Lebanese Armed Forces and security forces.
The third part of the plan is related to backing reforms that would generate economic growth and boost external investment in the fields related to the energy sector, high speed Internet, and business law.
“This program represents British confidence in Lebanon's independent, sovereign and stable future,” the British Embassy said in a statement.
The statement said that there will be high level visits and communication between London and Beirut in the coming weeks to take the plan forward.
