Ministry of Agriculture assigns national committee for organic production

The Minister of Agriculture, Hussein Hajj Hassan, assigned a national committee for observing and organizing the organic agriculture sector.

The committee, officiated in January, is chaired by advisor to the Minister of Agriculture, Mohamad Khansa. It comprises 16 members representing the stakeholders of the organic production sector in the country.

The committee’s mission is to observe the general affairs of the organic production sector. The committee will also ensure that the regulations and rules governing the organic production sector are well-implemented. The committee will cooperate with the private and public entities operating in the field of organic production through joint meetings.

The committee is also entitled to put forward drafts of laws and decisions related to regulating the sector. It is also tasked with putting forward a comprehensive national plan to upgrade the organic farming sector.
