The new Beirut-based Al Mayadeen Satellite Channel will go live starting the end of March.
The satellite channel is part of Al Mayadeen media network, which will also include a production company, a radio station, a website, and an advertising company.
Ghassan Bin Jiddo, the former director of Al Jazeera’s Beirut office, will be the network’s chairman. Nayef Krayem, the owner of the Lebanon-based channel Al Ittihad (Arabic for 'union'), will be the network’s General Manager.
The networks’ headquarters will be in Beirut. The network plans to expand its broadcast into other Arab states, including Cairo and Tunisia.
