The Council for Development and Reconstruction is inviting bidders for the rehabilitation of Zouk and Jieh power plants project. The bid was launched on March 19.
The project is partially funded through a loan which the government recently received from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD). The loan amount is $467 million, according to CDR figures.
The contract for the project covers all related activities including the design, manufacturing, supply, construction, installations, spare parts, warranty, testing, and commissioning.
The project consists of three separates lots, ‘Lot 1’ for the rehabilitation of all four units at the Zouk plant, ‘Lot 2’ for the rehabilitation of units 1 and 2 of the Jieh plant, and ‘Lot 3’ for the rehabilitation of units 3,4, and 5 of the Jieh plant.
Bidders can apply separately for one or more lots. According to the CDR, all bids must be accompanied with a bid security valued at $3.5 million for Lot 1, $1 million for Lot 2, and $2 million for Lot 3.
The deadline for applying the bids is June 26.
The project is part of the national plan to rehabilitate the energy sector. Last September, the Cabinet approved a $1.2 billion bill to boost power production by an additional 700 MW, among other projects.
