Nahas calls for nationwide economic dialogue

Private sector role crucial in overcoming challenges and fostering growth

The Minister of Economy and Trade, Nicholas Nahas, has called for a nationwide economic dialogue among local stakeholders. “It is time to launch an economic dialogue similar to the political dialogue in order to formulate a (unified) vision for the country’s future.”

Nahas commended economic associations' calls denouncing domestic political conflict. He highlighted the role of the private sector in overcoming challenges and fostering growth. “This call (from the economic bodies) should be a common stance and together we should translate it by identifying the problems so as to seek relevant solutions.”

Nahas said that through dialogue, counterparts could identify priorities that need to be addressed. These priorities will help the government in drafting more specific economic and developmental policies.
