Cabinet approves funding of Jiyeh and Zouk upgrades
Telecoms landline network to be expanded by private contractors

The Cabinet has taken a number of decisions during its Tuesday (June 12) session, among these:
-Approving the loan agreement which the Council of Development and Reconstruction (CDR) signed with the Kuwaiti fund (KFAED) for co-financing the rehabilitation of the power plants in Jiyeh and Zouk.

-Approving the request of the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation to purchase vehicles and machines used to clear roads from snow from the firm Izzat Jallad.

-Approving the request of the Ministry of Telecommunications to assign private contractors to undertake works related to the installation of landlines across the country (phase 6).

-Approving the CDR’s request to sign a loan agreement with KFAED to co-finance the rehabilitation of power facilities affected by the July war of 2006.

-Approving a draft law for establishing the Lebanese Committee for Ensuring the Quality of Higher Education.

-Approving a draft decree for establishing the Lebanese Council for Promotion.

-Approving a draft law for establishing an order for nutritionists.
