Cleared checks slightly down in first nine months

The value of cleared bank checks was down in the first nine months of the year, indicating a decline in spending levels. Cleared checks totaled $53 billion at end-September, down by 1.4 percent y-o-y.

Cleared checks in dollars totaled $41.9 billion, down by 2.7 percent y-o-y, while the value of cleared checks in lira was up by 3.7 percent y-o-y.
