Upgrading water quality in public schools

$2-million project funded by Rotary Club

A project to enhance the quality of water in public schools was recently launched by the Rotary Club. The $2-million project is funded by the Rotary and implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. The project will be implemented over three years.

The plan will benefit 1,200 schools in all regions. So far, it was implemented across 220 public schools.

Paul Edde, an official at the Rotary Club, said the project is essential for the schools and for the health of students: “Laboratorial tests of the drinking water available in public schools show that the water poses a health risk for students.” The plan includes replacing water reservoirs and pipe networks, as well as installing purification filters.
