The Arab Open University (AOU) will open a second campus in Antelias on Dbayeh Highway. The campus will begin receiving applications and preparing for the academic year by mid-July. Classes will start in the fall.
Fairouz Sarkis, Director at the AOU said: “The Antelias campus aims to respond to growing demand in the surrounding area. We have a considerable number of students that we could not accommodate in our Tayouneh campus.”
“The AOU also plans to open branches in other regions, namely serving the North, South, and Bekaa,” Sarkis said.
The Antelias campus has a capacity of approximately 1,000 students. The built-up area is over 4,600 square meters. Sarkis said: “There is a big demand from students who choose the open learning system because of its flexibility. In addition, students obtain both a Lebanese and British degree.”
The AOU’s programs are based on the curriculum of the UK Open University. It offers different specializations including computer studies, business studies, English literature, and elementary education. Sarkis said: “We also introduced the MBA and Master's Degree in Software Development.
The AOU was initiated by Saudi Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz in partnership with the Open University in the UK. It was established in seven Arab countries, including Lebanon.
