The Ministry of Economy and Trade will help Matelec create a laboratory to calibrate electrical measuring equipment. The project falls under the QUALEB program, supported by the European Union (EU). The Union will offer Matelec the necessary calibration machines and equipment.

Ghassan Bolbol, President of the Syndicate of Electrical Equipment Manufacturers, said Matelec will have the necessary machines to calibrate other companies’ measuring equipment. “The EU asked Matelec to run the laboratory independently from its company,” said Bolbol. This will ensure impartiality and avoid conflicts of interest.

Matelec will also be able to offer the companies calibration certificates. This will help them attain ISO standards and tap international markets.

Matelec started out as a manufacturer of electrical equipment. It has diversified its business to include engineering and contracting activities and has expanded to the Mideast, Africa and Europe.
