iTiVi, a new online free video-on-demand platform, entered its beta phase. It will give users the ability to watch clips, movies, and documentaries in their own time and customize their online viewing experience. The project is brought by movie and video clip director Waleed Nassif.

The official launching date of iTiVi is not set yet. Nassif said that statistics indicate a growing online audience in the region and the future of media is moving towards online channels. “We want to be pioneers, not followers; that’s why we initiated this project one year and a half ago.”

Investments in the channel were greater than the cost of any regular website, Nassif said, without revealing a precise figure.

iTiVi is an entertainment channel with exclusive online content, but Nassif said they are currently negotiating with local and regional TVs interested in buying and showing the online programs.

Movies and programs are relatively short, not exceeding ten minutes. According to Nassif, online viewers are not looking for 40-minute or longer TV programs. They are rather inclined towards quick entertainment.

The number of programs will grow with the number of viewers, he said.

iTivi offers easy streaming thanks to the high compression of its videos that preserves the High Definition (HD) of its content. It also owns an exclusive database where all videos are produced and uploaded by iTiVi only.

The channel is also a socially customized platform that allows users to ‘Like’, ‘Share’, ‘Tweet’, and invite their friends through different social media networks. “Interactivity is key in our business.”

Nassif said that advertising on the channel will be highly cost-effective. It will provide advertisers with high visibility for lower costs than TV airtime as the iTiVi’s audience base grows.
