The Ministry of Agriculture has announced that it will soon form the National Union for Milk and the National Council for Milk Producers. This step is to organize and boost the milk sector. The details and date of launching the Union will be announced later on.
The Ministries of Industry and Economy and Trade have joined in this initiative to help in developing the milk sector, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The Ministry of Agriculture is supporting small milk producers by subsidizing fodder and offering farmers veterinary and preventive services.
The National Union for Milk will include representatives from the concerned ministries, milk producers, and the FAO. Milk producers will be required to commit to a contract to be signed between the cooperative of milk producers and the factories. The Ministry will set the price of milk and control its quality.
In case of contract violations, the Ministry is entitled to recall machines it granted to cooperatives and hold back its subsidized fodder. Regarding violating factories, the Ministry will stop delivering milk to them and will prevent the delivery of powdered milk by importers.
The Ministry limits the delivery of powdered milk to licensed factories, only.
