New health R&D center
Consortium between USJ, Berytech and Aix Marseille

LEB‘IN is a health Research & Development project that brings together in a consortium Université Saint-Joseph (USJ), with the Aix Marseille University France, and Berytech Technology & Health Pole.

Berytech will collaborate in the project’s analytical work and organization. It will also take charge of the development of cooperation opportunities via research exchange, networking and brokerage activities. It will also support young researchers via joint events.

According to Zeina Sarrouf, Site Manager at Berytech Technology & Health Pole, LEB’IN is a three-year project which will conclude with the launch of a health cluster and a new research and development center. The center will be located at the Berytech-Mathaf premises. The cluster already includes Berytech, the USJ, and GenoMed, a startup enterprise active in genetic research.

“We are looking forward to cooperating with the Ministry of Health and other academic institutions,” said Sarrouf. According to her, the center will be open to any health researcher willing to benefit from the laboratories and the experts’ know-how.

The project is funded by the EU’s Seventh Framework Program (SP7. Works, according to Sarrouf and will be finalized by August 2014.
