The Ministry of Energy and Water is signing an agreement with Prysmian Group, a French firm, for the production of high technology cables, for the import and installation of 220 Kilo Volt Ampere (KVA) cables.
The cables will be used to link the Aramoun transmission substation to another substation to be built in the southern suburbs, and the Horsh main station. Cables will also be used to link the Solidere transmission substation to another, new substation to be built in Ashrafieh and later on to the Mkalles main station.
According to KVA, one of the three service providers responsible for optimizing power distribution, preparatory public works for the Ashrafieh substation have already begun. The substation will be built on EDL property, where an old unused building will be torn down and replaced by a new one. EDL had purchased another property in the southern suburbs in order to build the other transmission station.
The two substations are expected to handle 220 KVA of power through distribution networks.
