MoU between the AUB and the Energy Ministry

Assistance for research and training sessions

The Ministry of Energy and Water signed a memorandum of understanding with the American University of Beirut (AUB) Faculty of Engineering, today, addressing joint cooperation related to information exchange.

The AUB would conduct required research about the needs of the local oil and gas market. It expressed readiness to provide all necessary assistance to build capacities and hold training sessions for the Ministry’s experts in this field.

“We hope this MoU shows that it is not only important to have the raw resources but also the technical manpower to extract and benefit from oil and gas,” Minister Gebran Bassil said.

The Ministry is preparing, with the Petroleum Administration and several other universities, a number of similar cooperation agreements. These academic initiatives come in a bid to prepare local human resources and labor potential to cope with the coming exploration and production phase.
