Pine nuts factory launched in Jezzine

A factory to package and market pine nuts in Jezzine was completed. Funded by the Union of Jezzine Municipalities for $300,000, the 500 square meter factory, located in Bkassine, will process over 50 tons of pine nuts per year.

George Maalouf, Chairman of the Union said: “We held a bidding process and chose a winner for our Build-Operate-Transfer contract.” The winning firm will be in charge of the factory’s equipping and operation for the next ten years.

The factory is expected to generate 25 jobs.
