Kounouz, a new company owned by Tony Riachi, was established in Mtein to manufacture wine and a wide range of beverages including liqueur, Arak, jallab, tamarind, strawberry and rose syrups.

Construction works have been completed and it will begin operations in early 2015, marketing its products under the brand ‘Kounouz’.

Investment in the new factory located in the industrial city Mchikha, was $1.5 million. The total built-up area is around 2,500 square meters.

The factory is equipped with machines imported from Italy. Its production capacity will be 3,000 boxes (each box 12 bottles), a day. Riachi said: “We will not be able to produce in full capacity in the first stage.

The Kounouz vineyards are in Bekaa. “We usually lease the lands to control the vine production in all phases.”
Riachi is a former partner in the Lebanese Beverages Company, a beverage producer, branded ‘Roots’. “We decided to go our separate ways and establish our own company,” said Riachi.

“My family has the experience required and our own clients to earn a good market share,” said Riachi.
Kounouz will export part of its production to Arab countries, Canada, France and Australia.
