Hariri Group to expand its investments in Turkey
Alpman:"T-Bank will open new branches and extend support to SMEs this year"

The bank plans to increase its support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and it intends to boost the number its branches in major cities across Turkey, said Dinçer Alpman, the bank’s managing director.

T-Bank will offer credit facilities ranging between $300 million to $400 million in 2010, and 40 percent of this balance will be allocated to SMEs, according to Alpman. The bank also plans to boost the number of its branches to 45 or 50 from 25 currently which will create 350 to 400 new job opportunities. “The first two new branches will be opened in March,” said Alpman.

The Hariri family owns the majority stake in T-Bank, previously known as MNG Bank ; In 2006, BankMed, a bank owned by the Hariri family, and the Arab Bank, partially owned by Hariris (15 percent) bought 41 percent and 51 percent of the Turkish Bank respectively from former owner, Turkish businessman Mehmet Nazif Gunal. Since then, the bank’s branches increased to 25 from ten.

Oger is one of the biggest investors in Turkey with investments in the financial and telecom sectors. In addition to its controlling stake in T-Bank, it also owns another controlling-55 percent stake in Türk Telekom.

T-Bank's profits reached $2 million in 2009. This year, it it targets to increase its profits by 400 percent to above $10 million.
