‘Gibran Mall’, a shopping center located on the old airport boulevard, will open this summer.

Investments in the project rose over $30 million, said Aziza Sbeity, Marketing Manager. The mall was due to open in 2013, but works were postponed.

The mall is owned by Abraj Beirut, a real estate firm whose major shareholder is Azzam Sbeity, a Lebanese investor with business interests in Africa. Dergham & Hamdar Associates are the contractors of the project.

The total built-up area of the mall is 18,000 square meters. The construction includes seven floors: an entertainment floor with a center called ‘Wonderland’, a supermarket called ‘Gibran Hypermarket’, retail stores in a department store concept, rooftop restaurants, offices and two parking floors with a capacity for 200 vehicles.

Sbeity said that they have signed a franchise contract with Mondo Italia, an Italian fashion and retail company, which will introduce its labels to the local market. “We will also have a mix of local tenants that will cater to the region’s demand,” she said.
