Lebanese Canadian University opens Hadat campus in October

The Lebanese Canadian University (LCU) will open its second campus in Hadat, this October at a cost of $40 million.

The campus will be made up of eight buildings. Its land area is 8,000 square meters and has a total built-up area of 25,000 m2. There will be a building for the administration, four buildings for business, sciences & arts, humanities and engineering, and two buildings for dorms and the restaurant. A sports complex including a health club will be constructed.

Rony Abi Nakhle, Chairman of the LCU, said: “We signed a partnership agreement with the Ecole Hôtelière de Geneve to offer a hospitality and tourism degree.”

“The campus will provide modern laboratories and a kitchen for students studying hospitality to give them not only theoretical but also practical lessons,” he said.

The dorms will be made up of 60 rooms, including four to be furnished as hotel rooms. Abi Nakhle said: “We signed a partnership agreement with Entreprise des Grands Hotels, which includes Phoenicia and Le Vendome to send students to train there.”

The restaurant will occupy 1,500 m2, including the kitchen. It will include an area for self service, a seated restaurant, and a steak house. A helipad is also being established.

Abi Nakhle heads a team of 22 engineers who are the main contractors and designers of the project. Socotec is the control office.

The campus will have a capacity to host 5,000 students. It is expected to employ 350.

The Lebanese Canadian University is accredited by the governments of Canada and Lebanon. Its first campus in Aintoura was established in 2000, with nine buildings.
