The draft law bars all kinds of advertisements promoting tobacco products in spoken, written, and visual media outlets.
The draft law also prohibits smoking in public places, especially in indoor zones and obligates tobacco producers to place a label that warns of the dangers of smoking that covers 30 to 40 percent of the cigarette pack.
MP Robert Ghanem, head of the Committee, said that the committee members have yet to agree on the list of public spaces where smoking will be banned to avoid “controversy.”
The draft law is still pending an approval from the Parliament.
