Share
The European Commission will release a grant of €15 million ($17 million) to assist the country in implementing a strategy to remove mines and improve the living conditions of impoverished Palestinian refugees.
The grant is divided into two programs: The first is Supporting Lebanon Inclusive and Sustainable Socio-Economic Development through Mine Action. The value of this program is €10 million ($11.3 million). The program will be executed by DanChurchAid (Denmark), Handicap International (France), Mines Advisory Group (United-Kingdom), and Norwegian's People Aid (Norway). The University of Balamand will handle the program’s awareness campaigns.
The second program, valued at €5 million ($5.6 million), is for the improvement of housing of the most vulnerable Palestine refugees. This program aims to rehabilitate the dilapidated shelters of 400 families residing in 11 camps in the country.
