The Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) has prepared an $11 billion plan to manage Syrian refugees.

The plan was put together by MoSA, in collaboration with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Education, and the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR).

The plan includes loans and grants to be presented to donor countries that will attend the ‘Supporting Syria and the Region’ conference to be held in London on February 4.

“Around $1.4 billion of these funds will be directed to the education sector,” said Rachid Derbas, the Minister of Social Affairs. Wastewater, clean energy, and transport projects also have funds earmarked in the plan. Municipal activity would also be supported.

If the sought funds are obtained, the plan would be implemented over five years. “We are optimistic that donor States will respond to our needs because they are the ones who called for the conference,” he said.
