Almost half of these permits were for Mount Lebanon, in line with past years. The North came in second with 20 percent, followed by the South (16 percent), Beirut (nine percent), and the Bekaa (six percent).

Actual construction is also increasing. Figures released by the Central Bank of Lebanon show that cement deliveries increased by 18 percent over that period to reach 3.7 million tons.
