The reclamation of Tripoli Special Economic Zone (TSEZ) is complete, Chairperson Raya Haffar El Hassan said.
Works on infrastructure are now set to begin.
El Hassan said: “The Council of Ministers has provided us with $15 million for infrastructure already.”
An additional $30 million is needed to finish the works.
“These funds can be acquired through bank loans,” she said.
Infrastructure works are expected to take up to around three years.
El Hassan said: “We hope by 2020 we will be issuing our first license.”
Al Jihad for Commerce & Contracting was contracted by the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) for the reclamation of 550,000 square meters of sea, north of the Port of Tripoli. Works started two years ago. Rafik El Khoury & Partners acted as the consultant. The value of the contract is $22 million.
