“This step will modernize the customs department, and accelerate paper work and trade deals,” she said.

The Minister said that the Ministry will also introduce e-payments through banks.

El Hassan said that the customs department has no relation to recent incidents at the Port regarding the detection of rotten and outdated imports.

However, the Minister said that she will take proper actions if she discovers that customs officials are involved in such incidents in the future.
