More than 300 chefs from the Kafalat University gathered on Saturday and managed to prepare the largest hommos plate in the world. The chefs used seven tons of boiled chick peas, two tons of Tahini, two tons of freshy squeezed lemon and 700 kilos of oil.

The event was organized under the slogan “Do not mess in our plates, hommos is Lebanese,” as the country continues its battle to prove that hommos belongs to the traditional Lebanese kitchen.

The chefs also prepared the largest falafel plate weighing some 5,173 kgs with approximately 130,000 pieces of falafel.

Lebanon has set a third record for the largest clay plate designed by architect, Joe Kabalan.

Jack Brockbank, the Guinness World Records adjudicator, certified the results and handed the Guinness certificate to the event organizers.
