The place is owned by G.K., who used to fill empty glass bottles with counterfeit alcoholic beverages and then placed stickers on the bottles with names of various well-known whisky and vodka brands. He then used to distribute the imitated beverages to the market.
The Customs said that it has contacted the exclusive agents for those brands, and informed them with the act.
The Department has detected the location of the place after it investigated information it received from a Lebanese citizen through a phone call.
The Department has said that it confiscated 5,476 whisky and vodka bottles forged with names of international brands, and 2,232 bottles of whiskey for brands of Lebanese origin, and 12,700 empty glass bottles, and a large number of cardboards and stickers.
“The confiscation comes as part of our ongoing campaign to protect the health of citizens and trademarks against all kinds of fraud in accordance with Article 63 of the Customs law,” the statement said.
