The movement of passengers at Rafic Hariri International Airport, RHIA, witnessed a considerable rise during 2010 compared to the year before.
According to figures released by the airport administration, 5.5 million passengers used the airport during 2010, up 11 percent from 2009 and 36 percent from 2008.
The rise in passengers is due to the booming tourist season, as passengers peaked during July, August and December of 2010, reflecting the number of tourists as well as Lebanese expatriates who spend their summer vacations in Lebanon.
