The ministry of trade and Industry announced last Saturday that it has shut down a number of businesses as part of a new policy to end illegal practices. The statement said hat, in the past three months, 102 trade businesses have been shut down, while written warnings were issued to some 3000 others. It said that 33 facilities were closed down and 115 violations were issued at the duty-free zone. In addition, 30 factories were closed down during 2010, while nine manufacturers had their licenses revoked for failing to meet industrial standards.The licenses will be reinstated once the manufacturers take adequate measures to comply with the set standards, the statement said.
