Middle East Airlines, (MEA), announced that it will join Sky Team, an umbrella organization that coordinates the services of 13 airlines, including Air France and KLM.

The agreement between MEA and Sky Team will be signed on February 28 and it will be effective as of 2012.

MEA will be the second airline in the region to join the alliance. Saudi Arabian Airlines has announced its intention to join in 2012.

A spokesperson at MEA said that the agreement with Sky Team would benefit users of the Frequent Flyer Program since their points will be honored by all members of Sky Team. “Most important is that it will allow us to expand our network to cover most destinations around the world,” the spokesperson said.
