Slowdown hits Beirut hotels
Occupancy rates in April drop to 58% from previous year’s 72%

June 6, 2011 - Lebanon’s hotel sector witnessed a downfall as occupancy rates in April plunged to 58.3%, a decline of 14 points, or 20%, from the same period last year, a report said.
According to Deloitte Analysis of Selected STR (Smith Travel Research) Global Hotel Performance Data for the Middle East, the revenue per available room for Beirut (RevPAR) witnessed a decline of 33.1% to $114 during April 2011, from $152 in April 2010.
Meanwhile, the report estimated occupancy in the Middle East during April at 69.1%, an increase of 2.3 % from the same period in 2010.
