June 29, 2011- The Consumer Protection Association submitted on Tuesday (June 28) an open letter to the new government, urging it to consider the livelihood conditions of the people in its policy statement.
The association called the government to install balance between sectors, and with the primary goal of providing job opportunities to the youth. It called for reviving the Economic and Social Council and the National Council for Consumer Protection.
The association urged the new government to endorse a fair tax law that would alleviate the burden of consumption charges, and to adopt a food safety law.
It called the cabinet to draft a law to reclaim maritime and public land properties which it said would ensure considerable profits for the state treasury.
The association also called the cabinet to adopt a law for inclusive health coverage, and to preserve purchasing power through raising the minimum wage rate.
