ICT sector underdeveloped
IT report ranks Lebanon 95th worldwide in terms of “networked readiness”

Lebanon ranked the 95th among 138 countries and the 11th among 15 Arab states in the Networked Readiness Index of the Global Information Technology Report 2010-2011.

According to the report, published by the World Economic Forum, Lebanon ranked 81st globally, 11th among Arab states, and 22nd among average to high income countries for the “Environment Component”. The environment component is composed of the market, regulatory, and infrastructure pillars.

Lebanon ranked 85th globally, 9th among Arab states, and 23rd among average to high income economies, for the “Readiness Component”. The readiness component measures the preparation and willingness of the three stakeholder groups, individuals, businesses, and governments, to use technology, particularly ICT, in their day-to-day activities and transactions.

The country ranked 100th  on a global scale, 11th among Arab states, and 27th among average to high income countries, for the “Usage Component”. This component measures the actual ICT usage by an economy’s main social actors.
