Banking sector in good ranking
Ten local banks among top 100 Arab banks; Banking sector ranks 4th in deposits

July 13, 2011- The Lebanese banking sector came in 8th place among Arab banks in terms of assets at the end of the first quarter of this year which mounted to $132 billion, according to a publication by the Union of Arab Banks.
The report positioned Lebanon 7th place in terms of loans, $59 billion, and 4th in terms of customer deposits, $108 billion.

The report identified ten Lebanese banks among the top 100 Arab banks in terms of consolidated balance sheet in 2010. Audi-Saradar, BLOM Bank, Byblos Bank, Fransabank, BankMed, Banque Libano-Francaise, Bank of Beirut, Credit Libanais, the Lebanese Canadian Bank and Société Générale de Banque au Liban (SGBL) were among the top 100 Arab banks in terms of consolidated assets. Audi Saradar Group ranked 1st on a local basis and 20th on a regional basis.

On a regional basis, Emirates National Bank of Dubai (NBD) ranked 1st for the fourth consecutive year with a total consolidated assets of $78 billion in 2010.

The UAE banking sector topped the list of Arab banking sectors in terms of total balance sheet, with consolidated assets standing at $462 billion.
